As you begin your research on topics in the Middle Ages, you will want to use as many resources as possible to search for information.
1..We have several special reference books about the Middle Ages where you will likely find articles about your topics:
Medieval World (a 10 volume set)
The subjects in these reference books are arranged in alphabetical order.
2. Another place to look is in general encyclopedias. The library has print sets of :
Academic American Encyclopedia
Compton's Encyclopedia
Encyclopedia Americana
The World Book Encyclopedia
Always look in the index volume for your subject, in this case
"Middle Ages". Most of the time, you will find sub-headings under "Middle Ages",
such as "Art and architecture", " Government", "People", "Religion", etc. Once
you find your topic, you can then write down the volume and page number where
you can find the information.
3. You can also go to the database page to check online encylopedias such as Britannica
Online School Edition, Grolier Online (includes Encyclopedia
Americana, Grolier Multimedia Encyclopedia, The New Book of Knowledge),
and World Book Online Reference Center ).
Metropolitan Museum of Art - Medieval Collection
6. After you have gathered all your resources, make sure you write down the author, title, place of publication, publisher, and date of publication. You will need to include this information in your bibliography. We have access to an interactive website, NoodleBib, which helps you construct your bibliography for both print and online resources. After you login, you will be able type in each resource you use and the correct format will be created for you.
