GEOLOGIC PERIODS - LIBRARY RESEARCH - 5TH GRADE SCIENCE
1. There are several ways you can search for information about geologic eras. One useful place to start is with general encyclopedias.
Using the index,
- you can search for articles under "Earth", where you can usually find a chart of the geologic eras
-you can search for articles about a specific period, such as "Paleozoic" or "Mesozoic".
2. Using our science encyclopedia, The New Book of Popular Science, you can look for "Earth, Age of" in the index. You will find useful information about life during specific eras.
3. Using the Macmillan Encyclopedia of Science, Volume 4: Life on Earth, you will find a chapter on the various periods called "Explosion of Life".
4. Here are some other useful books. Look in the index for the period you are researching:

of the Evolution of Life on Earth
The Encyclopedia of Prehistory
The Historical Atlas of the Earth
5. Using your laptop computer, you can use our online encyclopedias. You must re-enter your email user name and password in order to use the online resources. Many encyclopedia articles have links to related web pages. Check them out.:
